Home TV Studios have become increasingly popular ever since the Covid-19 Pandemic broke out in early 2020. Home studios have also been around for a long time and they have been used by YouTubers and social media influencers to create professional streams at home.

So, what equipment do you need to set up your home TV studio?

  1. Multiple Cameras
    To set up your professional home TV studio, you’ll need at least three cameras for your video capture. These cameras will then be switched from one to the other as your TV show progresses.
  2. Tripod for Each Camera
    A tripod is a three-legged stand or mount for your camera. When you mount your camera on a tripod, it helps to keep it stabilized so as to avoid shaky images while recording your video. Each of your TV studio camera requires a tripod each.
  3. Cables
    An electrical cable is an assembly of one or more wires running side by side or bundled, which is used to carry electric current. Cables work by connecting two or more devices, and enabling the transfer of electrical signals or power from one device to the other.
    Get a cable that works with your microphone and other equipment.
  4. Lighting
    For your video to come out right, you need proper and adequate lighting system. There are different types of lights available to improve the quality of your TV show including shadows, foreground and background lighting.
    You can get amazing lighting for your videos within your budget, but ensure your lighting doesn’t produce shadows and isn’t too harsh.
  5. Video Switcher
    When running multiple cameras, you need a video switcher to switch your output from one camera to the other.
  6. Lapel Microphones
    Lapel mics are small and portable microphones that are clipped to one’s shirt, collar or tie. They are also referred to as lavalier mics and they allow you to record hands-free. Lapel mics are required in your TV home studio to amplify your voice while giving you the liberty to focus on the content you are producing.
  7. Set furniture
    A set of furniture is required for your home TV studio for sitting and presenting to your audience. Endeavor to use colors that compliment each other. Decorate your space in a way that makes it look homely and inviting.
  8. Multiple TV Monitors
    A TV monitor is used in a studio for monitoring the program being broadcast. It is an equipment that is used to check the quality or content of electronic transmissions.

  9. Capture cards
    Capture cards allows your computer to process the data from your camera. A capture card is a necessary video production gear especially if you plan on live production.
  10. Audio mixer
    The audio mixer performs the function of level equalization, filtering and audio control.
